They are confident that Biden’s record on job growth, the pandemic, and his support for Ukraine against Russia’s invasion will resonate better with voters than Trump’s false claims of a stolen 2020 election and his complaints about his legal woes.
Despite Trump’s surge in the polls following his indictment by a grand jury, Biden’s advisers think that his base is already galvanized and that he has little room to expand his support.
However, some Democrats are not as confident as Biden’s advisers about Trump’s chances of winning the 2024 election.
The Electoral College, which gives more weight to states with smaller populations, has been criticized for giving Republicans an advantage. In 2020, Biden won the popular vote by more than 7 million votes, but it was a closer race in the Electoral College, with Biden winning by 74 votes.
