New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently applauded the public’s response to a rally led by Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The rally, held outside a New York City courthouse, protested the indictment of former President Donald Trump on charges related to alleged hush money payments during the 2016 campaign.
Ocasio-Cortez criticized Greene’s actions on Twitter, referring to them as “shameless bigotry” and commending the “social consequences” Greene faced from anti-Trump protestors who heckled her during the event. Greene, however, remained steadfast in her support for Trump, stating that the protest was a peaceful demonstration against the persecution of an innocent man.
Greene also addressed a warning from Mayor Eric Adams to maintain her “best behavior” during the protest, asserting that she was indeed protesting peacefully.
